Fancy something unusual? Check out Barber and Parlour in Shoreditch

Ok, But First Coffee | Barber and Parlour

For those who are unfamiliar with the area, Shoreditch is one of the trendiest places in London. Located in the north-east of London, it’s a home for artists making and selling their own designer stuff.  It’s also full of popular bars and is considered a curry mecca by the locals. I call it an alternative part of London with its unique relaxed spirit of art and freedom. Redchurch Street has its own cutting-edge style with its independent cloth stores and places for hipsters to hang out.

For me it was a bit of an unusual experience, mainly because I have never been to a place where you can buy farm vegetables, have a coffee and get your nails done at the same time. While waiting for your partner to finish his grooming, you can shop for new ceramic door handles or even earrings. When you are done with beauty treatments and have eaten, you can move one floor up to the cinema. I am telling you, only a funky hostel is missing there 🙂

As for me, I came there to do some blog work and to have my morning cappuccino (£3.38). It was quite empty at 10 am on Saturday but started to get busier when I was leaving. The eating area is just in the corner of the building with huge windows, which makes this space very light and roomy. There are three big sofas, different style arm chairs and racks with house decorating items to divide the space into different functional areas.

What else I liked was the very friendly attitude of the staff. It was very relaxed and casual. As an introvert I don’t like being constantly asked if everything is alright or if I would like anything else. It seems that here you can enjoy your time as long as you don’t want to be harassed with such questions. Perfect. As I have been looking for a place to do my out-of-daily-job projects, I’m happy to add Barber and Parlour to this list.

And the cappuccino was what you would expect from good coffee beans: refreshing, not bitter like you get sometimes and really enjoyable
